Resurgent Russia

Its time for resilience and hopes for the New World Order has arisen. Russia strikes back in the International Arena reminding the nations all across the world that the loser of the cold war is not lost completely in the world. The manner in which they handled the Georgia's aggression in South Ossetia and the bold step to recognise the break away republics of Georgia- South Ossetia and Abkhazia sends a strong signal to the world that the Russia is not a mere spectator to international developments and the unipolar world US trying to establish is not possible. Hats off to Dmitry Medvedev, though being inexperienced, with less than 100 days of taking over as President, dint succumb to the pressure from the West. Vladmir putin though being the officially in the second grade in Russian Politics proved that he still plays the major role in his country.

The West have no rights to condemn the retaliation by Russia, when Georgia with no reason attacked South Ossetia, which was protected by the Russian troops according to the already brokered International agreements. Though the west allege that the retaliatory attack was too harsh, the Russians had no other options but to handle with iron hand to stop further aggression by the US ally, which is trying to seek NATO membership. The Russians have raised their voice saying that already volatile situation in Caucasus will become explosive, if Georgia gets a green signal to join NATO.

If anyone tries to justify the recognition of Kosovo, break away province of Serbia, why does the same logic not apply here and why does the West fail to understand this. It is clear the world is getting divided and the tension between the cold war rivals is at its peak since the break up of Soviet Union. With Venezuela and Cuba extending their solidarity with Russia over the recognition and Shanghai corporation organisation condemning the Georgia's brutal attack, European nations have joined hands with US to raise their concerns for Georgia.

With US attempting to build missile interceptor in Poland despite strong protest from Russia and Russia's participation in war games with Venezuela, with its submarines reaching those regions for the first time in the post cold war period, adds fuel to the fire. And US abruptly terminating the already proposed nuclear deal with Russia brings further woes to both the sides. Thought the possibility of cold war can be ruled out, the recent developments show that the policing other countries by US would be checked sooner or later. Yet, there is a long way for Russia to go and still lot more to prove that it could become as powerful as their cold war rival. Whatever happens, lets hope that peace gets established in the World.
